Attending Talking Shop with iShopFor Ipsos: A Mystery Shopper’s Experience
The much-anticipated Talking Shop with iShopFor Ipsos is not just another event for Mystery Shoppers. This annual hands-on workshop offers an opportunity to connect with Mystery Shoppers – both new and experienced, explore new ventures, and learn from the best in the field.
Janet P. is a seasoned Mystery Shopper that joined us for the 2023 event in Austin, TX and the 2024 workshop in Los Angeles, CA. She shared her experience with us.
A Journey to Remember
Janet embarked on an adventure with her friend, driving from Oklahoma to Los Angeles, stopping at various cities along the way. Albuquerque, NM, turned out to be a delightful detour with its rich culture and vibrant food scene. The road trip added an element of exploration and networking with local businesses that enhanced her experience.
Upon arriving in Los Angeles two hours before the workshop, Janet found the venue. "We learned a lot from all of the guest speakers," Janet recalls. We learned about different equipment we could invest in to expand into video Shops. There was a couple who spoke who had traveled the world doing video Shops. They played a part in bringing down a crime ring!”
Learning, Networking, and Innovation
The workshop was packed with detailed sessions by industry experts, offering insights into the future of Mystery Shopping. Janet noted the effectiveness of networking lunches – “During lunch we were able to network with other Shoppers who had been shopping for years and ‘bounce’ ideas and insights off of each other.” It provided opportunities to meet experienced Shoppers, including a gentleman from Georgia she had met the previous year. Building connections in this close-knit community was one of the most valuable aspects of the workshop.
Feedback from the 2025 event echoed similar sentiments. Participants appreciated the technology integration, variety of food options, ease of parking, and intimate setting, which fostered personal interactions. As one attendee put it: "It was fantastic to meet and connect with other Shoppers and the Ipsos team. It's amazing how much you learn from casual conversations."
Community and Opportunity
Participants valued the chance to share experiences in what is often a solitary profession. One Shopper said, "Since Secret Shopping is often a very solitary business, it was great to meet other Shoppers and share experiences too." Connecting in such an environment enables attendees to exchange ideas and learn directly from peers.
